One of the most important days in Punjab’s calendar is Diwali, the festival of lights. Typically, Diwali takes place in October or November. This celebration symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. People use candles and oil lamps to decorate their homes, light fireworks, and trade gifts and sweets.

Gurpurabs are, in fact, frequently seen throughout Punjab. Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s anniversary is in January, and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s is in November. These are the dates of the emergence of the Sikh Gurus. Gurdwara langars, prayers, and chandra kirtans known as processions.

Punjab holidays basically refer to a number of public holidays, cultural festivities, and religious observance that are celebrated within the boundaries of the state of Punjab, India. These are a kind of mix between national festivals, regional, and cultural festivals, which go deep down into the history and the culture of Punjab.

Punjab has a host of holidays in a year; both national and regional are celebrated. Some of the major holidays in Punjab are:

• Lohri: It falls in January. Celebrated as the last end of winter and beginning of harvest.
• Baisakhi: It is April. Harvest festival formed the Khalsa in 1699.
• Diwali : (Oct-Nov) – Festival of lights, representing good trouncing evil
• Gurpurabs : Birthguru anniversaries and their birthdays. November marks the passing away of Sikh Guru Nanak, whereas January celebrates the birthday of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.
• Eid and Christmas : are observed during the festival by Muslim community and Christian community respectively.

It is true that the Christian and Muslim communities in Punjab celebrate December and Eid, accordingly. Christmas is observed on December 25 and is characterized by celebrations, prayers, and giving presents.
