Calculating gross pay for salaried employees is slightly different. Salaried employees receive a fixed annual salary, which needs to be converted into gross pay for each pay period. To do this, divide the annual salary by the number of pay periods in a year. For example, if an employee’s annual salary is $50,000, and they are paid bi-weekly, the gross pay for each pay period would be $50,000 / 26 pay periods = $1,923.08.
When employees work overtime, their gross pay will include additional compensation for the extra hours worked. To calculate gross pay with overtime, multiply the regular hourly rate by the number of standard hours worked and add the overtime pay. For instance, if an employee works 45 hours in a week at a regular rate of $20 per hour and is entitled to overtime pay (1.5 times the regular rate) for hours beyond 40, the gross pay would be (40 hours * $20/hour) + (5 hours * $30/hour) = $950.
